The amazing game created by 38 Studios is nearing the half million units sold in just three months of launch, as reported by WPRI statistics company. The most surprising thing is that this is an original IP, in addition to the 410.000 refers only to physical units sold. More information inside.

As mentioned before, what is amazing is that this figure is only physical units sold in the United States. Failure to have digital copies distributed by Steam and Origin and the sales you’ve had in the world.

Since its debut in February, the number rose like foam, March being the strongest month of sales, with 80,000 units sold. For now, 38 Studios is working on the Copernicus Project, which will be a MMO and will be in stores later this year. Remember to give a punch to the review of good.

Thanks to Media Create report, we know the sales last week. The shortage of software together with other factors adversely affected all hardware manufacturers.

The comparison will hear more of Binary Domain is the Gears of War saga. I, however, make two points:

1) Yes, the combat system is very similar. However, just like Super Mario Bros. in 1985 defined the rules of the games platform for the next 20 years, the first Gears of War had a similar impact in the industry. To say that Binary Domain copied Gears is a lack of judgment. Do not let the little fan boy who lives within us all take power and say no to demean a title without analyzing the context well.

Yakuza Studio, developers of Binary Domain, are a Japanese team more to resume the long road traveled by gender: since the implementation humble Kills witch cover system, through total revolution that was Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War until the idea has evolved and borne fruit. Before you judge a title by “copy” to another, we must understand how the combat systems evolve and how the idea has bounced between Japanese and American studies who have contributed their particular idiosyncrasies have enriched the genre of third person shooter.

2) Examples of games that tried to adopt a control scheme or revolutionize the foundations laid by the aforementioned titles abound. However, we can find quite a few setbacks in the race to perfect the system: Dark Void, Army of Two, Vanquish, and so on. In an era after Gears of War, it is difficult to make a shooting game in the third person that sits behind in terms of game design and levels; Binary Domain contemporary feel and successfully showcases its own merits. Where more falters Yakuza title Studio is in the script. The story raises some very interesting situations and, ideologically, it may take much juice to the contributions of the cyberpunk genre title, but it all goes to ruin when some characters open their mouths. It’s just hard to be funny when you have no charisma-a sin that often make your teammates.

My recommendation is to resist the impetus to take away the sound and subtitles, and play the title: this is rewarded with a delicious friction to shoot the enemies. Will be flying green scrap much of the title, but from small robots to moles colossal several hundred meters high. Every shot feels out of the gun and land on the enemy, for vibration control and the effects of destruction of the robots are very well made.

With larger opponents managed to give developers visual clues of his state of life without resorting to a health bar. His armor will just wear down and begin to short out. To end a common robot feels good because of the way his armor is destroyed. My recommendation: shoot at the legs of the enemies, if there are many, and not stop moving. If you find a guard, trying to blow his head off, because this way begin to attack their own allies. Be very careful with robots that crawl, they can scare them out one: do not stop shooting until they explode.

Binary Domain also adds a system of updates and improvements. To destroy the enemies receive credits that may be used to improve the capacity of your primary weapon or secondary purchase equipment as sniper rifles, rocket launchers, shotguns, and so on. Just keep in mind that can only carry one rifle over his principal, a pistol and a grenade type. They can also upgrade your computer from peers and the physical abilities of all thanks to some enhancement packages. Ammunition, first aid kits, grenades and other also be available on several buying stations scattered throughout the game.

During the kinematics of the title will be times when you must press a button or moving the analog stick. Although the system is well implemented, I think she missed him a little more relevance in the overall design of the title, because very rarely you will use. There will be times when you go on board a vehicle shooting at enemies.

These sections are exciting and help to give rhythm to the title. There will also be sequences where you must control a vehicle, no big deal, except that, if they fail, they start from the beginning.

I found a nice touch, though somewhat dissonant if one considers that in all other sections of the game is auto-save points. I had a great time playing the Binary Domain last weekend. Although I could not taste very good online modes, because the title is not yet available in our region and it is difficult to find somebody to play the few games I could connect to were fun. Except for some minor issues of likelihood, the title is, in every sense of the term, a set of contemporary third-person shooter and well managed. Further proof that the Japanese development is not dead decaying far is how well you are able to Binary Domain. If you can ignore the details that I pointed out, spend a very long time.

In the middle of last century, several English gentlemen met regularly to discuss cyber and electronic. The Ratio Club was called and its important figures emerged rows, perhaps in a hundred years, will be remembered as parents of fundamental concepts of robotics and artificial intelligence. One of these men was Alan Turing. He predicted that by 2000, a machine with 120 megabytes of memory might deceive a third of humans in a test that now bears his name. The test aims to determine the ability of machines to exhibit intelligent behavior. Pretend you are talking with a stranger messaging on your computer: if you do not find that this “unknown” is actually an artificial intelligence, that program will have successfully passed the Turing test.

Binary Domain poses a future in which Turing is not enough, someone has managed to make robots that are indistinguishable from humans not only able to strike up a conversation, but also physically. If you look below the surface layer of a design cliché characters and a script is not very well done, you can find a game with a very solid game system raised very valid questions about the human condition and enjoy playing from start to finish .

Bioethical questions are difficult to answer: If we can faithfully reproduce the structure of human thought, does that mean that materialism is right and that our mind can be explained physically? If a human is essentially indistinguishable from a machine, is it illegal to “kill”?

Binary Domain suddenly skips these issues and entertains best examining its consequences throughout the plot. The first thing you have to view two gringos are stereotyped: the white man, strong, loud and gigantic African American ghetto attitude. Resist the temptation to turn off your console as the two begin to shout cliches right and left, for what lives under the surface layer is a thoughtful storyline full of twists and narrative, and a combat system that reminds us pleasantly

Gears of War.

When you insert the disc into your PS3 there is also version for Xbox 360 the first thing that happens is that the game will take about ten or fifteen minutes to install. A pity. Then, as the campaign progressed, I noticed that in several fights against giant enemies (colossal, rather) the fps down to about 10 or 15, which became the title unplayable for a few seconds. Although never died because of low FPS and these situations are presented very little, yes it was a negative factor in the heat of some battles.

Binary Domain is very SEGA and no wonder: the same Toshihiro Nagoshi is the mind behind this title. Not just the art direction, but also the control, but is heavily inspired by Gears of War Gets through to level design, among other things, maintain a sense of originality. The most original aspect of Binary Domain is the set of consequences. This is necessary to return to what they had talked to the Turing test: the question posed is not “machines think?” But “can the machines do what we ? “. You see: there will be times through the game in which a team member will make them a question or submit a plan of action. Then you either a microphone or a button on his control, will respond as they please. Each fellow has a distinct personality, so to answer the same at all may not be a good idea. You can also spend that hard to please one, lose some loyalty to another. Interestingly, according to your decisions, trigger some events during the campaign or combat situations vary. Funny how the developers tried to answer a question the way the plot of your game develops: artificial intelligence and how to react like a human. The critical question this system-making is: is it significant gain or lose the loyalty of a partner? Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to play a second time Binary

Domain, so the question remains open to air. If someone in the comments share your gaming experience, with pleasure I can compare it with mine. That would be a good way to verify that our decisions have relevance in the development of the plot of the title.

Now, not only dialogue can make decisions on his or her partner. His performance in battle is also important. For example, I was lousy at understanding how to get the answers for someone, but my aggressive style of play almost always earned me a “Wow, how good you are.” Unfortunately, if you shoot an ally, you lose loyalty points. This would not be a problem if its artificial intelligence was at the height of the situation, but is not the case: more than a dozen times while shooting, my idiot friend was going through and still had the nerve to tell me “Do you need glasses? “. I must confess that more than once shot them on purpose, dam of impotence caused by his ineptitude. Please read the other part of this review in next part two

Yesterday went on sale Trials: Evolution, and his response was much greater than expected. Around 100,000 players downloaded it, something that generated some Microsoft servers to fall completely. More details inside.

Soon to be playing, error messages appear in the leader boards when entering them.

Developers are already aware of the situation and have released a statement.

“We feel the disadvantages, of course we are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the situation and prevent it from happening again.”

We have to wait until further notice. Meanwhile, can continue playing without problems in the single player mode. Or please plan to create the super track that always wanted to do.
